Install in three steps
Up and running in a minute
Download the installer
Grab the Windows installer below. It's a single, self-contained file.
Run & install
Open the installer and follow the prompts. It isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn — click 'More info → Run anyway'.
Start your trial & open a folder
Launch Obsydian Lab, start the 14-day trial, point it at any project — no card required.
Sovereign by design
Installed locally. Yours completely.
Obsydian Lab runs as a native desktop app — your files and your work stay on your disk. Flip on Sovereign Mode and the AI runs locally too, with no cloud and no telemetry baked into the build.
Verify your download with SHA-256
Every release ships with a published SHA-256 checksum so you can confirm your download is genuine and untampered. The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may show an “unknown publisher” prompt — choose “More info → Run anyway”. Obsydian Lab is local-first — it never uploads your source, and there's no hidden telemetry baked into the build.
